Healthcare professionals are licensed by emirate, not nationally. The authority that licenses you depends on where the facility is, and a licence issued by one authority does not let you practise under another.
The Dubai Health Authority licenses professionals and facilities across Dubai, other than those inside Dubai Healthcare City. Most clinics, medical centres and hospitals in Dubai fall under DHA.
Dubai Healthcare City operates its own licensing regime for facilities and professionals inside the free zone. A DHA licence does not transfer automatically into DHCC, or the other way round.
The Department of Health licenses professionals practising anywhere in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention licenses professionals across the Northern Emirates. Sharjah Health Authority has its own role in the emirate of Sharjah. Confirm which applies to the specific facility before starting an application.
DataFlow is primary source verification. Your qualifications, licences and experience letters are verified directly with the institutions that issued them, rather than accepted on the strength of the documents you hold. It runs before a licence is issued and it is the step that most often delays a start date.
Prometric is the computer-based assessment required for many professions and specialties. Whether you need it, and which exam, depends on your profession, your qualification and the authority you are applying to.
Both can run alongside a search rather than after an offer. Where MedGrowth is placing you, we prepare and track the DataFlow submission and arrange the assessment booking as part of the process.
Some of the roles listed here do not carry an employer name. That is normal. A facility replacing a consultant who has not yet resigned, or opening a service line it has not announced, cannot advertise publicly without causing a problem before the hire is made. You are told the facility type, the emirate and the full requirement. The name is shared with you before any interview.
No. You must hold a DHA licence to practise in Dubai outside the free zones, or a DHCC licence to practise inside Dubai Healthcare City. An offer of employment can be made before the licence is issued, but you cannot start clinical work until it is in place.
The process differs by authority and profession. In several cases you can complete verification and assessment and obtain an eligibility letter independently, with the licence itself issued once an employer is confirmed. Confirm the current requirement with the relevant authority for your profession.
No. Licences are issued per authority. Moving from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, or from DHA to DHCC, requires an application to the new authority, although verification already completed can usually be reused.
Confirmation that you have met the assessment and verification requirements and can be licensed once an employer is confirmed. Eligibility letters have an expiry date, so check yours before relying on it.
